Book Discussion, October 18-Portland Public Library
Portland Public Library will host a book discussion of Mr. Emerson's Wife on Thursday, October 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Wagner Room at the Library, 20 Freestone Ave., Portland. Library Director Janet Nocek will provide a brief book talk on related non-fiction and fiction books about the people and their times.

Bus Trip to Concord, MA
Just a reminder, Thursday, September 27 is the deadline for those wishing to go to Concord. We need 30 to fill the bus and currently only have 12. If you interested, sign up soon. See earlier posting for the details. The trip will be cancelled if we do not make 30.

Book Discussion, September 19
Join Glastonbury resident Jordon Pecile for a lively discussion of Mr. Emerson's Wife on Wednesday, September 19 at 7 p.m. in the Glastonbury Room at the Welles-Turner Memorial Library. Mr. Pecile is also a retired literature instructor having taught at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

American Bloomsbury
For those interested in reading more about Emerson, Thoreau, Fuller, the Alcotts and Nathaniel Hawthoren, you might want to read American Bloomsbury by Susan Cheever. Bus Trip to Concord, Massachusetts
Join East of the River Reads libraries for a bus trip to Concord, Massachusetts on Sunday, October 14. Bus leaves the Commuter Lot on Main Street in Glastonbury (at Routes 2 & 3) at 11 AM; departs Concord at approximately 4:30 PM. We will visit Orchard House, the Concord Museum and Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
- Cost: $45.00 per person, includes admission to Orchard House and the Concord Museum.
- Register at the Welles-Turner Memorial Library in Glastonbury or your local public library (payment due at registration)
- Checks payable to: Town of Glastonbury

Welcome to the East of the River Reads (EORR) blog. East of the River Reads is a regional one book program that includes the following towns: Andover, Bolton, Colchester, Columbia, Glastonbury, Hebron, Manchester, Marlborough and Portland.
This year the Committee has selected Mr. Emerson's Wife by Amy Belding Brown, Ms. Brown with speak and sign books at the Douglas Library, 22 Main Street, Hebron on Wednesday, October 3 at 7 p.m.
